SUMMARY:Walking Through the Woods on a Foggy Day in December-Photo Show
DESCRIPTION:View the ethereal photographs of Bettie Carlson December 1st-31st in our cafe gallery. \nA public meet the artist reception will take place on Sunday\, December 11th\, 1-3 p.m. \nArtist’s Statement: Winter\, the time when all the leaves have fallen from the trees and the flowers have died and all the colors have gone from the land. Or have they?? Is it just that the colors are more subtle than in the warmer months? Not everything is dead. Most are just waiting for springtime when they can rise again. But on a foggy day in December\, I discovered plenty of color – and some fascinating shapes in the decaying wood and leaves that I might not have noticed with the distractions of all that summertime color.  And the fog created a veil to embrace it all.

SUMMARY:In A Borrowed Suit book signing event
DESCRIPTION:Meet local author Carlo Morrissey who will be discussing and signing his latest novel In A Borrowed Suit. \nFree and open to the public. For more information call 508-949-6232. \nAbout the book: Nothing is ever easy! Something always goes wrong! \nWe can hear Raymond Rosemont muttering such thoughts as the unassuming\, socially awkward\, middle-aged\, loner bumbles his way through one absurd episode after another. While planning the funeral arrangements for his beloved mother\, Raymond must interact with his two sisters; one\, a hard charging bank executive\, who scares Raymond\, the other\, a Hollywood scriptwriter more interested in having a good time than mourning their mother’s death. \nFrom being locked out of his apartment in a thunderstorm – clad only in his underwear\, learning about the effects of drinking too much alcohol\, being wrongfully accused of attempted suicide\, and finally gaining the interest of a beautiful lady; Raymond manages to muddle through it all. Staying true to himself\, discovering real friendship and much more in this darkly humorous tale. \nAuthor bio: Besides Carlo’s latest novel\, In a Borrowed Suit\, he has also written these other novels Lavender Skies\, If You See Your Father\, Shoot Him\, and I am the Moon. In recent years he has returned to writing poetry\, with his most recent work published in the Lowell Review and two new poems will be published in the Spring of 2023 in the Evening Street Review. Carlo retired as a school psychologist for the Worcester Public Schools in 2013. He continues as an adjunct faculty member at Quinsigamond Community College teaching Sociology classes.

SUMMARY:"Lights and Icons: A Study in Acrylics"-Paintings by Jim Wilton
DESCRIPTION:Booklovers’ Gourmet is pleased to present “Lights and Icons: A Study in Acrylics”\, paintings by Jim Wilton on view and for sale January 6th-31st\, 2023. \nThe show can be viewed during regular business hours\, Tuesday-Saturday 10am-5 pm\, Wednesday 10am-6pm in the cafe gallery. \nA public reception with the artist will take place on Saturday\, January 7th\, 2-4 pm. \nFor more information call 508-949-6232 or email deb@bookloversgourmet.com. \nArtist’s Statement: “I’ve been photographing and painting for years\, in fact all my life. I’m mostly self taught other than my elementary and high school. I have photographed  lighthouses as well as other subjects for inspiration for my art. These beautiful locations have inspired me to seek more outdoor locations as well as other subject matter. \n  \nI spent many years painting portraits but have switched it up to trying lighthouses after a hiatus to raise children but also found myself returning to portraits. I began photography of outdoor scenes and wildlife in 2008 after finding digital photography\, making it more accessible. A few years ago I began painting again after a friend painted from one of my photos thus inspiring me to try again. I haven’t stopped but also got into crafts such as seashell jewelry boxes\, Christmas trees and lighthouses. I hope folks enjoy my work as much as I enjoyed painting it.”

Beverages and snacks will be available for purchase. No outside food or drink.\n \nLittle by little\, you will get to know Mark Mandeville & Raianne Richards through their unmistakable vocal harmonies\, poetic lyrics and down-to-earth personae. These prolific and hard working Massachusetts-based artists have contributed over seventeen albums within their first decade and toured consistently throughout the US and Canada. \nTheir songs poetically reflect personal experiences as factory workers\, teachers\, community organizers\, and natives of post-industrial mill towns in central Massachusetts. I started Art Classes with Bill Griffiths at the Worcester Art Museum in 2018\, which brought me to a new level as an artist.  He has taught in all mediums and students work in the medium of their choosing.  I have exhibited at the Museum’s Adult Student Art Exhibit and at Arts Worcester.  In 2018\, I started watercolor classes with Charlie Grey in Rutland\, MA.\, a local well-known artist who has been instrumental in improving my watercolor technique. SUMMARY:Suspense Author Stephen Amidon visit
DESCRIPTION:As part of our 28th Anniversary celebration\, we are excited to be hosting national suspense author Stephen Amidon! He will be signing and discussing his latest novel Locust Lane\, published by Celedon Books in January 2023. The event is free and open to the public and signed copies of Locust Lane\, as well as his other books\, will be available for purchase. \nCall 508-949-6232 for more information or email deb@bookloversgourmet.com. \nFor fans of Mystic River by Dennis Lehane and Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng\, Stephen Amidon’s Locust Lane is a taut and utterly propulsive story about the search for justice and the fault lines of power and influence in a seemingly idyllic town. Can anyone be trusted? \nOn the surface\, Emerson\, Massachusetts\, is just like any other affluent New England suburb. But when a young woman is found dead in the nicest part of town\, the powerful neighbors close ranks to keep their families safe. In this searing novel\, Eden Perry’s death kicks off an investigation into the three teenagers who were partying with her that night\, each a suspect. Hannah\, a sweet girl with an unstable history. Jack\, the popular kid with a mean streak. Christopher\, an outsider desperate to fit in. Their parents\, each with motivations of their own\, only complicate the picture: they will do anything to protect their children\, even at the others’ expense. \nWith a brilliantly woven\, intricately crafted plot that gathers momentum on every page\, this is superb storytelling told in terse prose—a dynamic read that is both intensely gripping and deeply affecting. \nSTEPHEN AMIDON was born in Chicago and grew up on the East Coast. He lived in London for twelve years before returning to the United States in 1999. He now lives in Massachusetts and Torino\, Italy. His books have been published in sixteen countries and include two works of non fiction\, a collection of short stories\, and seven novels\, including Human Capital\, adapted as a film directed by Marc Meyers in 2019\, and Security\, also adapted as a film and released by Netflix in summer 2021.

SUMMARY:"Unlike Any Other" Author Event with Ed Londergan
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an enlightening talk and book signing event with author Ed Londergan for his latest historical fiction novel about Bathsheba Spooner entitled “Unlike Any Other“\, the story of an 18th Century woman from a prominent New England family who went from a life of privilege to the gallows. Signed copies will be available for purchase. \nBathsheba Spooner was the daughter of Timothy Ruggles\, a general in the French and Indian War\, president of the Stamp Act Congress\, Chief Justice of the Court of Common Pleas\, and a leading loyalist in Massachusetts during the Revolutionary War; the epitome of upper class. \nLike her father\, Bathsheba was smart\, strong-willed\, and a staunch British loyalist. Forced to marry a man she did not love\, Bathsheba withstood her husband’s abuse for years until a young Continental soldier entered her life. But when this well-heeled mother of three small children discovered she was pregnant with the soldier’s child\, her thoughts quickly turned to murder. \nBased on a true story\, the events that follow Bathsheba’s life\, her decisions\, and her ultimate demise will show readers that Bathsheba Spooner was\, in fact\, Unlike Any Other . . . \n  \n \nEd Londergan is the author of the award-winning books The Devils’ Elbow and The Long Journey Home. Having researched American history for many years\, he is a frequent speaker with a focus on colonial Massachusetts. A graduate of Holy Cross\, he lives in Warren\, Massachusetts.

After a lifetime of hiding her true purpose\, Dubeau is guided to share her very raw and personal self with the world and help others.   \nDocumented from personal journals for over forty years\, the lessons\, healings\, and ceremonies have guided her to a sacred path of purpose and meaning.
