Nurses provide excellent care to their patients while exercising the remarkable ability to laugh at absurd or shocking situations. \nAnn Watt’s nursing sequel will persuade you to look at this caring profession through her eyes. A critical care nurse of over thirty years\, Ann has the experience to back up her statements. She learned the importance of humor while at work\, and she passes her memorable stories on to readers. \nDelve into a night shift nurse’s career and the surprises it contained. You will be engrossed in the extraordinary situations Ann encountered. Determine for yourself if being a nurse was ever fun. \n  \nAbout the author: Raised in South Deerfield\, Massachusetts\, Ann pursued a career as a nurse and graduated from Fitchburg State College with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. She primarily worked in ICUs for thirty-two years. Showing dedication to her area of expertise\, she earned both her adult critical care RN and cardiac surgery specialty certificates. \nSeeking challenges outside of the workplace\, she obtained her private and commercial pilot licenses\, in both single and multiengine airplanes. \nPresently keeping her feet on the ground\, she travels\, hikes\, and climbs mountains whenever possible. She conquered all forty-eight summits in the White Mountains of New Hampshire that are above four thousand feet in elevation. Photography\, birding\, and cooking are her other favorite hobbies. \nHer debut memoir\, When Being a Nurse Was Fun: Tales from My Life as a Nurse was published in 2023. She wrote a short story titled “The Longest Journey.” It was included in Rhode Trip\, an anthology that was produced by the Association of Rhode Island Authors. Believe in God\, Not Coincidence was published in 2024. Her most recent book\, The Anguish of Alzheimer’s: The Years of Mom’s Dementia was published in 2024. For more information call 508-949-6232. \nArtist Statement: My preferred  medium is colored pencils. I use colored pencils for their versatility and precision. They satisfy my craving for simple line drawings as well as fully saturated paintings with lots of detail. The process of building each piece stroke by stroke is very meditative.

SUMMARY:Beauty & Ashes-Poetry Book Launch with Karen Warinsky
DESCRIPTION:Woodstock author Karen Warinsky will launch her new book of poetry on Saturday\, June 28th from 1-2:30 p.m.  \nThis event is free and open to the public and will include a limited open mic and a raffle. \nTitled Beauty & Ashes\, (Kelsay Press)\, this is her fourth collection. Warinsky has published poetry since 2011 and her books are Gold in Autumn (2020) and Sunrise Ruby (2022)\, both from Human Error Publishing\, and Dining with War  (2023 Alien Buddha Press).” She is a Best of the Net nominee and a former finalist of the Montreal International Poetry Contest and won First Place in 2024 for her poem “Mirage” from the Ekphrastic Poetry Trust.  She coordinates spoken word/poetry events in MA and CT under the name Poets at Large\, and currently holds readings at Roseland Park in Woodstock and The Vanilla Bean Café in Pomfret\, CT.  Warinsky and her husband have lived in Woodstock for 34 years where they raised their three children\, and she is retired from careers in journalism and teaching. \nThis event is suitable for ages 14 and up.  Books will be available for purchase.  People should call (508) 949-6232 or email deb@bookloversgourmet.com to sign up for the open mic. \n

She also considers herself a hippie at heart. Finding herself lost in her art is where she finds inner peace. All of her art is hand painted and created from my own imagination. No stencils were used or harmed in their creation. Each piece is unique.
