SUMMARY:Cyanotypes by Lisa Shea
DESCRIPTION:A display of original Cyanotypes by Lisa Shea will be shown in our cafe gallery for the month of January.  \nThe show may be viewed during normal business hours: Tuesday-Saturday 10-5\, Wednesday 10-6 \nPlease note: The shop will be closed for vacation January 4th-9th \nCyanotypes are one of the original forms of photography\, dating back to the 1800s. Cyanotypes are powered by the sun! By mixing together potassium ferricyanide and ferric ammonium citrate – the resulting paint is light-reactive. You can then paint that liquid onto canvas\, watercolor paper\, t-shirts\, pillowcases\, and a variety of other surfaces. You can use items such as bicycle gears and ferns\, but the sky’s the limit. You can cast shadows with leaves\, cut-out letters\, film negatives\, and anything else which blocks the sun from reaching the painted surface. You can also paint abstract designs with the liquid on corrugated paper to explore light and dark. Creating cyanotypes is a lot of fun for all ages. \nCome by the shop on Friday\, January 23rd\, from 5-7 p.m. to create your own cyanotypes. We will be using a UV Light to expose the image\, which will take approximately 10-15 minutes. View the art and chat with the artist. All supplies will be provided. Snacks will be available for purchase. To RSVP\, please call 508-949-6232 or email deb@bookloversgourmet.com. \n  \n  \nArtist’s Statement \nI discovered at an early age that I loved a variety of creative arenas. I photographed everything I saw. I scribbled on notepads. I folded origami out of receipts. Rides in busses and cars would become long brainstorming sessions for epic sagas. \nOne of my central themes is the embracing of serenity and peace. So many times precious energy is squandered on stress\, guilt\, or wallowing in a past which cannot be changed. The more we can find a sense of peace within us\, and cultivate our energy to use in a focused manner\, the more we can achieve our goals and dreams. This is valuable not only for us directly\, but also for all of those around us who we wish to help and support. \nMost of all\, I enthusiastically strive to learn and grow every day. I am continually exploring new techniques\, researching new styles\, and extolling the diversity which is our world. \nI actively embrace social networking and would love to talk with fellow artists and fans about the world of art. I am inspired and awed every day by what our world has to offer us.

SUMMARY:"Still"- Nature Photography by Janet McDonald
DESCRIPTION:Great Blue Heron by Janet McDonald\n“Still”\, a series of nature photographs by Janet McDonald\, will be on display and for sale throughout April in our cafe gallery. \n\nA meet and greet with the artist will take place on Saturday\, April 11th from 2-4 p.m. The public is invited and all attendees will receive a hand-painted rock as a special gift!\nThe show may also be viewed during normal business hours: Tuesday-Saturday 10-5\, Wednesday 10-6. For more information\, call 508-949-6232.\n \nArtist’s Statement: “This exhibit is an invitation to pause\, to observe and to remember that photographs are a glimpse into an entire ever-changing landscape. These captured moments\, frozen in time\, tell a story\, evoke a feeling\, memorialize a memory.\n \nAs I raise my camera to capture these still moments\, the photograph becomes a fraction of the world around me. My canoe will glide past the subject. I’ll continue my walk down a garden path or my hike in the woods\, leaving the stillness to continue or disappear from sight. \n \nEnjoy these photographs and the luminous detail that emerges on the surfaces. And enjoy the concept of fleeting moments and the feelings they evoke instead of skipping to the end. It’s about taking the time to stop and smell the roses along the way!”

SUMMARY:Open Mic Poetry with Feature Brian Mosher
DESCRIPTION:In celebration of National Poetry Month\, we are hosting an Open Mic Poetry Event with Featured Poet Brian Mosher.\nThe event is free and open to the public. There is space for up to 14 readers for the open mic\n \nTo sign up to read\, please call 508-949-6232 or email deb@bookloversgourmet.com.\n \nBrian Mosher resides in Mansfield\, MA. His work has appeared in Blood and Bourbon\, Lily Poetry Review\, Literary Underground\, Nixes Mate\, Anomaly Poetry\, eMerge\, Esoterica\, and others. He received Honorable Mention in the Joe Gouviea Outermost Poetry Contest\, and his short story “Fragments” was a winner of the Nikki Hanna Literary Challenge. His most recent books are the collection\, “A Muster of Melodious Musings” (2025 Metaphysical Fox Press); Double Vision\, a collaboration with artist Becky Haletky (2026); and the chapbook “Relict” (2026 Finishing Line Press).\nHis website is Phlubbermatic: (www.phlubbermatic.blogspot.com).\n \nRelict is the result of the author’s struggle to figure out what the death of his father meant to him. Does a person become something different on the day they no longer have any living parents? A child becomes an adolescent\, becomes an adult. A single person becomes part of a couple\, becomes a parent\, becomes again single either as a widow or through divorce. But we have no word for the stage of life that begins once both a person’s parents have died. This book is an attempt to document the feelings of grief\, and to reconnect to a lost past through stories about ancestors\, all without losing sight of a hopeful future.\n \nArtist Becky Haletky and poet Brian Mosher present their collaborative project\, Double Vision. Becky has created gorgeous and colorful collages of diners\, historic locations and other attractions (both real and imagined)\, and Brian has written poems to accompany each one.\n

SUMMARY:Evening Book Group April
DESCRIPTION:This month’s pick is Raising Hare by Chloe Dalton. ***Please note: meeting is a week earlier than normal*** \nImagine you could hold a baby hare and bottle-feed it. Imagine that it lived under your roof and bounded around your bedroom at night\, drumming on the duvet cover when it wanted your attention. Imagine that\, more than two years later\, it still ran in from the fields when you called it and slept in your house for hours on end. For political advisor and speechwriter Chloe Dalton\, who spent lockdown deep in the English countryside\, far away from her usual busy London life\, this became her unexpected reality. \nBooks may be purchased in store for a 10% discount or online at Bookshop.org
