SUMMARY:Wild Gardens Poetry Reading with Sara Letourneau
DESCRIPTION:Come meet Sara Letourneau who will be reading from and signing her debut poetry collection Wild Gardens. This event is free and open to the public and will include an open mic moderated by Robert Eugene Perry. Signed copies will be available for purchase. \nTo sign up for the open mic portion\, email deb@bookloversgourmet.com or call 508-949-6232. Space is limited. \nAbout the book: In this inspiring and lyrical collection\, Sara Letourneau looks at our world and one’s life experiences with empathy and wide-open eyes. The book allows us to inhabit terrain that is physical—the shores of Cape Cod\, the lava fields of Iceland\, parks in Massachusetts and New York City—and emotional. Poems about grief\, love\, and mental health coexist with poems about travel\, spirituality\, and the natural world like flowers in a nursery. Wild Gardens shows us how to live with wonder\, perceptiveness\, and gratitude for the extraordinary and the everyday. \nBio: Sara Letourneau’s debut poetry collection\, Wild Gardens\, is out now from Kelsay Books. She’s also a book editor and writing coach at Heart of the Story Editorial & Coaching Services; the cofounder and cohost of the Pour Me a Poem open mic in Mansfield\, Massachusetts; and the co-editor of the Pour Me a Poem poetry anthology. Her poetry has won the 2023 Beals Prize for Poetry and the Blue Institute’s 2020 Words on Water contest. Her new and upcoming work can be found in Amethyst Review\, The Arts Fuse\, Gyroscope Review\, Nixes Mate Review\, Remington Review\, Rituals\, and Silver Birch Press\, among others. Sara lives in Foxboro\, Massachusetts. \nLinks: Website: https://heartofthestoryeditorial.com/wild-gardens/ · Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/heartofthestoryeditorial · Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sara_heartofthestory/ · LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/sara-letourneau/

These musically talented artists have contributed over seventeen albums within their first decade and toured consistently throughout the US and Canada. Accompanying themselves on guitar\, Mandolin\, harmonica\, ukulele\, penny whistle\, electric bass\, tenor guitar and most uniquely clarinet\, their live performances are both musically captivating and spiritually uplifting as audiences are carefully balanced between serious songs and humorous commentary.Making Promises (2024) is the fourth eponymous studio release by contemporary folk songwriters Mark Mandeville & Raianne Richards. This album replete with poetic lyrics\, sophisticated musical arrangements\, and mellifluous vocal harmonies will be a welcome addition to your collection from their twenty-year partnership. Much of the material inspired by their recent marriage in 2021 reflects on themes of love\, desires\, perseverance and promises\, with much of the music sparsely arranged as duets with upright bass accompaniment by longtime friend Zack Ciras (see indie-folk trio the accident that led me to the world). Two compositions recorded between 2021-2023 include bandmates Doug Williamson (piano) and Peter Hart (pedal steel)\, with the majority recorded in Northfield Massachusetts during December 2023. \nFor more information visit markandraianne.com

SUMMARY:"The Promise of Spring"\, Photography by Don McCallister
DESCRIPTION:This month’s featured local artist is photographer Don McCallister\, whose work will be on display and for sale in our cafe gallery April 1st-30th. \nThe show may be viewed during regular business hours: Tuesday-Saturday 10am-5pm\, Wednesday 10am-6pm \nThe month of April is a welcome sight after a New England winter. It holds the hope that from that pile of leaves will spring a cluster of wildflowers;  a clump of barren twigs will sprout leaves and develop into a flowering shrub; the green spiral at the end of a fuzzy stem will unwind into a intricate multi-cut fern. Sunrise stirs the winter moisture lurking in the ground into a fog that the morning dissipates into a blue sky day. Mornings seem to linger and the still low slanting sun illuminates the warm promise of the day. \nThese are some of the things that I have tried to capture in my photographs.  Perhaps some of the hope embedded in the sights of spring will make its way to the viewers of this collection.

SUMMARY:"Technicolor Daydream"\, paintings by Jennifer D'Andrea
DESCRIPTION:Booklovers’ Gourmet presents “Technicolor Daydream”\, paintings by Jennifer D’Andrea\, on display and for sale during the month of May in the cafe gallery. The show may be viewed during normal business hours\, Tuesday-Saturday 10 am-5 pm\, Wednesday 10 am-6 pm. \nA meet and greet with the artist will take place on Saturday\, May 10th from 2-4 pm with light refreshments. Free and open to the public. For more information please call 508-949-6232. \nArtist’s Statement: “Somewhere in between Consciousness and subconsciousness lies a realm of color\, Pure Color\, like a cosmic kaleidoscope. Physics tells us that we are existing in two places at once and we blink in and out of those places. Where do we go when we dream? Maybe it’s to this place\, the place of pure color. In any case\, I wanted to capture the place that I personally go to when I paint a piece. I let my spirit linger between Consciousness and subconsciousness. It is my Technicolor Daydream – an exhibition of colorful abstract expressionist paintings.”

SUMMARY:Across the Atlantic: A Boy’s Journey from Ghana to America Book Launch
DESCRIPTION:Join us in welcoming Kwasi Acheampong\, author of Across the Atlantic: A Boy’s Journey from Ghana to America. This story is more than a simple account of migration; it’s a tale of sacrifice\, resilience\, identity\, and transformation\, inspired by the lives of those who crossed oceans and faced challenges to create new beginnings.\nSigned copies will be available for purchase.\n \nIn these pages\, you will follow the journey of a young boy from Ghana who\, with his family of ten\, left behind everything familiar for the unknowns of America. Through his eyes\, you’ll experience the challenges of adapting to a foreign land\, the cultural clashes\, and the strength that emerges when family bonds are tested.\nThis book was born from a deep personal connection to the immigrant experience\, from the stories and struggles passed down through generations. Like many who’ve undertaken such journeys\, the protagonist’s story reflects the universal themes of hope\, survival\, and the quest for belonging.\n \nAcross the Atlantic is written for anyone who has experienced a major life transition\, who has sought to bridge the gap between two worlds\, or who is curious about the heart and soul of the immigrant experience. Each chapter reveals the triumphs and setbacks\, the moments of doubt and clarity\, that define the search for identity in a new land.\nKwasi Acheampong was born in Ghana\, West Africa and moved to the United States of America at the age of 10. His journey\, shaped by the challenges and opportunities of immigration\, deeply influences his storytelling and fuels his commitment to empowering others.\n \nKwasi is the founder of Our Bright Future\, a STEAM-based nonprofit organization dedicated to providing innovative programs such as Robotics\, 3D Printing\, Bioscience\, Cricut Club\, and sports to local students. As the Executive Director of Our Bright Future\, Kwasi is passionate about equipping young minds with the tools and skills to thrive in a rapidly evolving world.\nA devoted husband to his beloved wife\, Scarlett Acheampong\, Kwasi is also the proud father of three amazing children—Leon\, Kyrie\, and Nova Acheampong. Balancing family\, leadership\, and service\, Kwasi embodies the values of hard work\, community\, and resilience.
