DESCRIPTION:We are looking for local artists to display and sell their work through the month of February! Bring in your original artwork depicting the theme of winter\, either literally or figuratively\, in any media including photography\, painting\, drawing\, collage\, fabric\, mixed media\, etc. \nDrop off dates: Friday\, February 1st\, 10-6:30 or Saturday\, February 2nd\, 10-5 \nWork will be on display February 5-28\, 2019. \nA meet the artists reception will take place on Saturday\, February 9th\, 2-4 p.m. All artists\, family\, friends and the public are invited to attend. \nRequirements: All work must be framed or ready to hang\, preferably with a wire\, and must be no larger than 16″X20″ including any framing or matting. Artists may bring up to 2 pieces for consideration. Due to space limitations\, not all work may be hung. There is no submission fee\, however a 25% commission will be taken on any sales during the month. DESCRIPTION:Photography featuring landscapes\, black & white\, textures & a different view of life by Andy Mihail. \nJoin us for a meet and greet with the artist on Saturday\, January 12th from 2-4 p.m. with light refreshments. \nArtist’s statement: Photography has always been a part of my life. From the little 110 camera I received as a present in the early 80s\, to the DSLRs I use today. High school provided me with a very wacky\, out of the box thinker for a photography teacher\, whom I credit for letting me see the world a little bit differently. My eye wanders to many different things to shoot\, but those high school years shooting black & white film has taught me to love leading lines & textures. I love a rusty car & and peeling paint on an old building! Being a great influence\, Ansel Adams taught me to search out landscapes. I love catching a dramatic sky\, morning mists or a firey sunrise! Pops of color & finding the “slices of life” among our everyday existence is what you can also find in my work. \nI grew up in Indiana\, moving to Massachusetts just under 20 years ago. Married to an amazing woman & father to a teen daughter\, I spend my spare time shooting\, reading & building plastic model kits. As an avid geek\, I also love to hang with my geeky “MA clan”\, play Dungeons & Dragons\, board games & selling home made & re-purposed items at Comicons. I credit my wife\, Kymm\, with kicking me in the tush to get out there & start selling my photography.

SUMMARY:Best in Show-Paintings by Annie Spear
DESCRIPTION:December’s art show will feature whimsical animal paintings by Annie Spear. \nA meet the artist reception will take place on Saturday\, December 8th from 2-4 p.m. with light refreshments. Free and open to the public. \nAnnie started oil painting at a very young age. She received a degree in Auto Body and enjoyed painting cars. By twenty one she became a union steelworker painting industrial equipment. Never afraid to color outside the lines\, in her own time she painted everything from rooms to houses. She even bought an old Victorian and spent years painting\, wallpapering and yes\, rearranging the furniture in all 15 rooms of it. \nAnnie had heart failure unexpectedly at the age of thirty two. She was the sixty sixth person ever to be diagnosed with a very rare heart disease called Giant Cell Myocarditis. The odds of survival were five years with a transplant likely in the first year.  The last eight years she has had five different major organ failures and eight different potentially fatal diagnoses even spent a summer in a coma. Eventually she was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus. Not able to work or get around well she decided to start painting on canvas again. Painting is a huge part of her healing.  Her amazing faith and positive attitude is the only explanation of how she survived. Her hope is that her paintings make people laugh. Her goal is to add humor to fine art\, a rare combination. \nShe will tell you that having her world turned upside down is the best thing that has happened to her. “It’s as if God enjoys frequently rearranging the furniture of my life.” Annie lives at home with her husband Jeffrey and their beloved kitty named Ethel Merman.

The four seasons of New England inspire my palette from the soft white light of winter\, to the fresh greens of spring with the riot of colors in blooming flowers. Summer is the morning sun in the garden and on the ocean. When fall comes I try to capture the golden red leaves in an annual painting. With the changing seasons I’m inspired by what surrounds me.”
