DESCRIPTION:Come meet and hear Michael McAfee read from his book “Tarot Poems”\, all inspired by a standard deck of tarot cards. \nMichael McAfee is a writer and actor residing in Millis\, MA. His combination of clever composition and vocal expression has gained notice at open mics across Massachusetts. He started writing poetry when he was 5 years old\, started taking commissions in the 1990s\, got published in professional magazines (such as Space and Time) in the 2010s\, and published his collection\, Tarot Poems\, in 2016. He has been involved in Boston’s audio theater community as a voice actor since 2005\, and his work has included being part of the Parsec-award winning ensemble of The Mask of Inanna\, an epic series where he voiced many of the smaller parts. He works as a software quality assurance engineer\, and enjoys all sorts of geeky pastimes\, such as traveling to out of the way science fiction conventions. He currently teaches as an adjunct professor of English at Bridgewater State University\, as well as teaching English\, philosophy\, humanities and public speaking courses at Bristol Community College. He belongs to an eighty–five–pound golden retriever and an impish Calico cat.\nIn 2014\, he began writing the first manuscript of a science fiction/fantasy thriller in a series called The Immortality Wars. Viewing hours: Tuesday-Friday 10-6:30\, Saturday 10-5. \nAbout the artist: Christine Corrow is a native to Massachusetts who has painted in several different mediums in her more than 30-year art career. She launched her career early in life as a young mother by using her natural talent in the medium of tole painting on slate and wood. Over the years she has transformed her artistic vision into abstracted views of the world around her. Though mostly self-taught\, she is currently pursuing her life-long dream of a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts at Worcester State University. Christine is passionate about her art and wishes to share the power of art as a healing tool with others. She is currently teaching at several area senior centers and has several upcoming art shows at local businesses. When Christine is not painting she enjoys spending time with her children\, grandchildren\, friends\, and family. Christine is a devout Christian who looks to God to help her create her beautiful artwork. For Christine painting is a spiritual experience and its healing powers are significant to her vision for sharing her artwork with others.

She serves on a volunteer committee for Friends of the Providence Animal Care & Control Center\, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization\, dedicated to supporting the animals in the city of Providence. Denise is a member of the Association of Rhode Island Authors. She lives in Southern New England with her husband Ernie and their sweet\, rescue dog\, Jax. DESCRIPTION:We are looking for local artists to display and sell their work through the month of February! Bring in your original artwork depicting the theme of winter\, either literally or figuratively\, in any media including photography\, painting\, drawing\, collage\, fabric\, mixed media\, etc. \nDrop off dates: Friday\, February 1st\, 10-6:30 or Saturday\, February 2nd\, 10-5 \nWork will be on display February 5-28\, 2019. \nA meet the artists reception will take place on Saturday\, February 9th\, 2-4 p.m. All artists\, family\, friends and the public are invited to attend. \nRequirements: All work must be framed or ready to hang\, preferably with a wire\, and must be no larger than 16″X20″ including any framing or matting. Artists may bring up to 2 pieces for consideration. Due to space limitations\, not all work may be hung. There is no submission fee\, however a 25% commission will be taken on any sales during the month.
