SUMMARY:Gnomettes-Small Paintings by Sharon Lindgren
DESCRIPTION:October’s Art Exhibit is “Gnomettes”\, small paintings & prints featuring gnomes in various settings\, by local artist Sharon Lindgren. The exhibit will be on display and for sale in the cafe gallery and may be viewed during normal business hours\, Tuesday-Saturday 10am-5pm\, Wednesday 10am-6pm. \nA meet the artist reception will take place on Saturday\, October 12th\, 2-4pm. Light refreshments will be served. For more information\, call 508-949-6232. \nArtist’s Statement: My oil paintings and photography have been seen in galleries\, art shows and businesses throughout New England. Retiring from a health care career afforded me the ability to pursue my passion in oil painting. I love the richness of the colors and the different textures of paint on my canvas. When COVID kept most people homebound\, I started making sock gnomes to give to family members and friends. Gnomes are believed to be symbols of good luck and protectors of home and family. These sock gnomes inspired me to paint a series of gnomes in different settings.

DESCRIPTION:The December featured artist of the month in our cafe gallery is photographer Johanna Riddle. Her show is titled “Daydreaming Near a Causeway” and can be viewed during normal business hours: Monday-Saturday 10am-5pm\, Wednesday & Friday 10-6\, Sunday 12-4 through December 22nd. \nThe public is invited to a meet & greet reception on Sunday\, December 15th\, 2-4 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. \nFor more information call 508-949-6232. \nArtist’s statement:  \nJohanna (Jo) Riddle’s photography explores the realms of the unconscious mind\, capturing the fleeting\, surreal moments that exist between wakefulness and sleep. In this body of work\, she brings the intangible world of daydreams to life through a town in rural Massachusetts. She uses film photography to offer a glimpse into the nostalgia of our inner landscapes. Through the use of blur and surrealism\, Johanna evokes the sensations and distortions that come with dreaming—where logic fades and meaning becomes fluid.

SUMMARY:"The Promise of Spring"\, Photography by Don McCallister
DESCRIPTION:This month’s featured local artist is photographer Don McCallister\, whose work will be on display and for sale in our cafe gallery April 1st-30th. \nThe show may be viewed during regular business hours: Tuesday-Saturday 10am-5pm\, Wednesday 10am-6pm \nThe month of April is a welcome sight after a New England winter. It holds the hope that from that pile of leaves will spring a cluster of wildflowers;  a clump of barren twigs will sprout leaves and develop into a flowering shrub; the green spiral at the end of a fuzzy stem will unwind into a intricate multi-cut fern. Sunrise stirs the winter moisture lurking in the ground into a fog that the morning dissipates into a blue sky day. Mornings seem to linger and the still low slanting sun illuminates the warm promise of the day. \nThese are some of the things that I have tried to capture in my photographs.  Perhaps some of the hope embedded in the sights of spring will make its way to the viewers of this collection.

Physics tells us that we are existing in two places at once and we blink in and out of those places. Where do we go when we dream? Maybe it’s to this place\, the place of pure color. In any case\, I wanted to capture the place that I personally go to when I paint a piece. I let my spirit linger between Consciousness and subconsciousness. It is my Technicolor Daydream – an exhibition of colorful abstract expressionist paintings.”
