DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to present The Ninth Annual BVAA Sunflower Show in August\, a wonderful way to enjoy golden beauty of sunflowers in art! Pieces in this group show by members of The Blackstone Valley Art Association will include paintings\, photography and mixed media. \nThe show may be viewed August 1st-30th during normal business hours: Tuesday-Saturday 10-5\, Wednesday 10-6. \nThe public is invited to a reception to meet and greet some of the participating artists on Wednesday\, August 13th from 5:30-7 p.m. \nAbout the Show\nIf there ever was a flower which symbolized glorious summertime\, the sunflower is the one. Did you know that nearly all of the 70 species of sunflowers are native to North America? They can grow to be up to six feet tall and they even tilt as the sun moves so they always face it! \nAbout the BVAA \nSince its inception in 1957\, the Blackstone Valley Art Association has been dedicated to the advancement of the arts and preservation of the finest artistic traditions by means of exhibitions\, classes\, workshops\, presentations\, and other activities favorable to artistic expression\, and to the development of friendly exchanges amongst artists and those interested in the arts. Do you believe that being a nurse isn’t fun?         \nNurses are resilient and dedicated caregivers\, but they don’t lack a sense of humor. Nurses provide excellent care to their patients while exercising the remarkable ability to laugh at absurd or shocking situations. \nAnn Watt’s nursing sequel will persuade you to look at this caring profession through her eyes. A critical care nurse of over thirty years\, Ann has the experience to back up her statements. She learned the importance of humor while at work\, and she passes her memorable stories on to readers. \nDelve into a night shift nurse’s career and the surprises it contained. You will be engrossed in the extraordinary situations Ann encountered. Determine for yourself if being a nurse was ever fun. \n  \nAbout the author: Raised in South Deerfield\, Massachusetts\, Ann pursued a career as a nurse and graduated from Fitchburg State College with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. She primarily worked in ICUs for thirty-two years. Showing dedication to her area of expertise\, she earned both her adult critical care RN and cardiac surgery specialty certificates. \nSeeking challenges outside of the workplace\, she obtained her private and commercial pilot licenses\, in both single and multiengine airplanes. \nPresently keeping her feet on the ground\, she travels\, hikes\, and climbs mountains whenever possible. She conquered all forty-eight summits in the White Mountains of New Hampshire that are above four thousand feet in elevation. Photography\, birding\, and cooking are her other favorite hobbies. \nHer debut memoir\, When Being a Nurse Was Fun: Tales from My Life as a Nurse was published in 2023. She wrote a short story titled “The Longest Journey.” It was included in Rhode Trip\, an anthology that was produced by the Association of Rhode Island Authors. Believe in God\, Not Coincidence was published in 2024. Her most recent book\, The Anguish of Alzheimer’s: The Years of Mom’s Dementia was published in 2024. A nursing sequel\, When Being a Nurse Was Fun: Volume II was published in 2025. \nAnn lives in Rhode Island with her husband\, Wayne\, and their rescue dog.  \nMore information about Ann may be found on her website: http://www.annwattauthor.com
